In a feature in the Caller-Times, TNP Member and Coastal Bend Advanced Practice Nurses Past-President Joe Flores talks about his dual career as a nurse practitioner primarily treating patients in need of hospice care and as a lawyer focusing on health care law.

"Often (nurses) deal with the most vulnerable people that really can't advocate for themselves,” Flores shared in the Caller-Times story. "They're scared, they enter into a hospital system that's (alienating) to them and they just need that reassurance that there's going to be somebody looking in on them.”

Flores compares this to his parallel profession as an attorney.

"I've found out in the legal system that it's the same thing," he said. "People enter that system and they're overwhelmed, they don't know what's going on.”
